Victory Baptist believes that Christ's Great Commission given to the church in Matthew 28 is a responsibility to be obeyed by all local churches. A church that strives to reach out to those across the ocean but fails to reach out to those across the street is not entirely obeying the command to reach "Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, and the uttermost parts of the earth". In order to more effectively reach our "Jerusalem" (Weatherford), VBC has organized several ministries under the direction of our outreach director, Philip Newkirk.
Each month, several opportunities are given to members to participate in community evangelism. Monthly church-wide outreach is held on the second Saturday of each month and asks members to visit new move-ins, church shut-ins, go door-to-door, or distribute gospel literature.
Also, members are invited to join outreach teams who go out on a weekly basis to reach Weatherford for Christ.
JEWISH HERITAGE NIGHT
In order to reach those of the Jewish faith with the message of a crucified and risen Messiah, Jesus, Jewish Heritage Night is held on the third Friday night of each month at 7 p.m. JHN is also a time of education for church members as they explore the Jewish roots of the Christian faith. JHN is directed by our own missionaries, Phil and Debra Sawilosky of Olive Tree Ministries.
C.A.R.E. CRISIS MINISTRY
The C.A.R.E. Crisis Ministry of VBC is a non-fee, short-term, biblically based, peer support and encouragement ministry that is available to all members and others who are seeking biblical counsel. Martha Johnson is a non-licensed lay counselor who is trained in listening, clarifying, and assisting in goal setting.
In order to reach the Spanish-speaking community that is within Weatherford, VBC also offers Spanish services which are held by our Spanish director, Antonio Aguilar. Services are currently held in the Family Life Center, and are held on Sundays and Wednesdays. In addition to these regular services, Brother Aguilar hosts regular fellowships, conferences, and youth activities.
