THINGS to KNOW
LIFE'S GREATEST DISCOVERY
There are Three Stops You Must Make on Your
Way to Eternity if Heaven is to be Your Home
1st Stop – KNOWING WHY YOU NEED TO BE SAVED
You have repeatedly violated God’s unselfish holy nature
by breaking His law and are therefore under His wrath.
Romans 13:8-10 – The Ten Commandments, God’s law, are ten examples of living in keeping with His righteous nature.
TEN COMMANDMENTS (Exodus 20:1-17):
1-4 Toward God:
1) No other gods.
2) Not to make any graven image.
3) Not to take the name of the LORD in vain.
4) Remember Sabbath Day.
5-10 Toward Man:
5) Honor father and mother.
6) Not to kill (as in murder).
7) Not to commit adultery.
8) Not steal.
9) Not to bear false witness.
10) Not to covet.
Romans 7:7, 12-13 (4:15) – The law magnifies sin’s true nature.
Romans 3:10, 19-20, 23 – All men are sinners.
Romans 5:12 – All men are sinners by a nature inherited from Adam. As an apple tree’s nature is to bear apples, so yours is to sin – be selfish in desire and deed.
SEE: Matthew 7:12; 22:34-40; I John 3:4; Galatians 3:10; James 2:10; Ephesians 5:5-6.
2nd Stop – KNOWING WHO CAN SAVE YOU
Christ, as both God and man, by His substitute life, death, burial and resurrection.
Romans 10:1-4 – Ignorance of God’s high standard of righteousness (Psalms 147:17; 71:19) yet Christ as the source of it.
Romans 5:6-10 – Christ did it all for you! God the Father sent God the Son to save you. God the Spirit causes you to want to be saved and to see how Christ is the only one qualified to save you.
Romans 5:19 – One man got you in this mess and only One man can get youout! Changing of headships from Adam’s to Christ’s.
Romans 4:1-5 with 23-25 – Christ’s resurrection activated (put into effect) the benefits of the Gospel (as when a new credit card is put into force by a telephone call).
SEE: Isaiah 53:6; Galatians 3:24; Acts 4:12; I Timothy 2:5-6.
3rd Stop – KNOWING HOW YOU ARE SAVED
By grace through faith in the person (God and man), life,
and work of Christ (His death, burial and resurrection).
Romans 6:23 – Grace here means freely-given ability to believe, as in trust. Grace means it is a gift. God did all that needed to be done in Christ in order to provide salvation for you. You simply receive it as a gift.
Romans 11:6 (4:1-8) – If it is not free, it is not grace.
Romans 10:9-10, 13 – The belief, behind the call, is what God responds to. SEE: Galatians 2:21; Ephesians 2:8-9; Titus 3:4-7.
• Do you honestly SENSE THE NEED for salvation
from the wrath of God for your sins?
• Do you truly SEE THE SIGNIFICANCE of the life,
death, burial and resurrection of Christ, as God and
yet a man, in providing salvation?
• Do you want to SECURE THE BENEFITS of such
(be saved from the wrath of God) right now?
Christ claimed to be the exclusive and entire way
of salvation. He did so emphatically. The God you
sinned against became a man in order to save you.
“Jesus saith unto him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life:
no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” John 14:6
If you now see your sins as God sees them and are truly sorry for them and you want to make it right with Him, tell God so in your own words. Tell Him that you are turning (as in repentance) from your ways to His, from wanting to live a life of sin unto one of righteousness, and you are transferring your trust – from anything or anyone else – unto Christ and what He alone has done to deliver you from God’s wrath over your sins.
There is no good reason to wait. Now, while you are facing the issue, get it settled once and for all!
